A facsimile of a Victorian (1870) catalogue of this most important manufacturer of every imaginable forged tool or object: bill hooks, axes, adzes, chisels, anchors, eel spears, locomotive firing shovels, horseshoes and many more. The names of some of the tools indicate the world-wide custom the firm had: Russian miners' hammers, Spanish bowl adzes, Australian half-bright chipping hoe, New Zealand sinking pick, Bechuana grubbing hoes and the Peruvian hedge bill. A thoroughly researched account of the history of Record planes from the founding of the original company C & J Hampton in 1898 through the acquisition of the Preston List in the early 1930s to the position of Record Tools in 1998. Accompanying this is a reprint of the complete February 1938 No. 15 Catalogue, now considered the most representative and the peak of the pre-Second World War production. Dates for introduction of each plane after 1938 and various adaptations are all listed in great detail. The author has had full cooperation and approval of the firm in his researches. 	Edward Preston & Sons Ltd., 1908-1912 CATALOGUE. Ref: 9024 Published by Astragal. A reprint of an important catalogue of this leading high quality Birmingham tool maker (founded 1825). It lists some 600 rules and 300 levels, planes and other tools and equipment. The company also produced such diverse items as a lawyer's bodkin and a robust sardine can opener. 	Sheffield 1787, A DIRECTORY OF SHEFFIELD. Ref: 9021 Published by TATHS. A new reprint of the1787 Directory of Sheffield including the manufacturers in the adjacent villages. Ref: 9003 Published by Early American Industries Association This a facsimile reprint of a Birmingham Pattern Book with a 20 pp. of illustrated introduction by Jane Rees. It is in the collection of the Essex Peabody Museum in Salem Massachusetts and it is the first time that a pattern book has been reproduced full size (it is a landscape shape).
