Christopher Knight Sanders, A SERIES OF TABLES IN WHICH THE WEIGHTS AND MEASURES OF FRANCE REDUCED TO THE ENGLISH STANDARD.
Ref: 7304
The author, a Lieutenant in the Royal Engineer Corps, compiled the book in 1825 after having examined the two reports of the Royal Commision on Weights and Measures set up in 1816 to decide on the precise value of the French metre in terms of English inches, together with the report of the French National Assembly in 1791 on coverting their old system of weights and measures into their new system. Sanders produced this book with comments and tables converting every conceivable French measure into its English equivalent: \i From French TOISES into English. FEET and Inches; French METRES into English YARDS.;French KILOGRAMMES into English POUNDS (troy)\i0 ; some 42 tables in all. An important document. There is a stamp on the title page of STANDARDS DEPARTMENT BOARD OF TRADE, a book plate and a signature on the title page with a date of 11 July 1827 donating the book. Some staining on the cover with the corners and edges of boards burred. An extremely rare title.
