This contains descriptions of the lathe and its attachments and tools with practical Instructions for their effective use on wood, metal, and other materials.This was published anonymously, but was in fact written by Lukin and who first wrote this as articles for "The Bazaar, The Exchange and Mart and Journal of the Household" during 1872 and 1873 which is a general introduction to turning both wood and metal and includes a chapter on ornamental turning. Some staining on the boards and endpapers.

This is the 1890 Third edition, which is considered second only to Holtzapffel in usefulness. The Britannia Lathe Company catalogue is an appendix which lists all types of lathes (including one named "The Lukin") and other quality machine tools of the time and Armenian grindstones. The narrative section covers turning tools, hardwood, metal with hand tools, slide rest work in metal, epicycloidal, rose cutting, eccentric cutting, ornamental drilling, fluting and vertical cutting, the dome and ellipse chuck, goniostat and metal spinning.

First edition 1701. Two volumes, one text the other plates, with 72 full-page engraved plates, one double-page. The earliest known treatise on the lathe. Describes the turning of wood, metals, ivory, diamonds, etc. and the tools and machines to be used. Further shown are objects to be made in this way, such as vases, urns, knives, and snuff-boxes. Plumier spent many years in America studying flora and notes in his preface to this book that while in America he worked on turning many of the instruments which he describes and which were unknown in Europe at the time. Original vellum with a number of dampstains on each binding. The boards are rubbed on all sides and the vellum is lifting on the spines. The books were in the collections of Sir J Philipps whose bookplate along with Erasmus Philipps' signature appear on the inside front cover of the text and the signature of Erasmus Philipps and Lord Milford whose stamp appears on the inside front cover of the plate volume.

This a set of 20 individual cards published in the 1930s and comprises: 1) Wrenn and Georgian mouldings; 2) mouldings of the Tudor period; 3) turned woodwork of the 16th to the18th centuries. The mouldings and turned work are presented in full size detail. The examples are of staircases and balusters, beams, doors, panelling, fireplace surrounds and skirting amongst others. So far as is practical the plates have been arranged in chronological order. A reprint is available as part of the authors' MOULDINGS AND TURNED WOODWORK OF THE 16th, 17th and 18th CENTURIES in the New Book Section.
